Seattle vs. Spokane: Conversations across the Cascade Divide
Is living in Seattle all it’s cracked up to be? Can Spokane serve as a creative utopia? Join us for a conversation with artists, writers and comedians from Spokane — and Seattle — debating the pros and cons of forging a creative life in an urban vs. rural landscape.
- Knute Berger – Crosscut’s Mossback, Berger was born and raised in Seattle and writes with his own Pacific Northwest perspective. He was a writer-in-residence at the Space Needle and has a cocktail named after him at Ivar’s. You can read his column on Crosscut.com and see the popular “Mossback’s Northwest” series on KCTS 9.
- Jess Walter & Danny Westneat – Lifelong friends debate the politics, growth and culture of Seattle and Spokane.
- Emmett Montgomery & Harry J. Riley – In a series of videos, comedians from each city tour the other around their adopted hometowns.
- Whitney Mongè & Kate Lebo – A singer/songwriter and a poet/pie-maker dissect the pros and cons of the two creative communities.
